| River House Inn and Restaurant |
This country inn really is in the country.
Nestled in a natural bowl of the Blue Ridge Mountains, River House is
an 1870s farmhouse with rooms and cabins open year-round.
River House is in the Grassy Creek area of Ashe County, in the
northwestern corner of North Carolina near Virginia and Tennessee. It
overlooks the North Fork of the ironically named New River, one of the
most ancient in North America.
River
House is close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, an easy drive to New River
State Park, Grayson Highlands, Mount Jefferson, the Virginia Creeper
Trail and the Bluff Mountain Nature Conservancy. In summer, you may
wish to try New River Outfitters or Zaloo’s Canoes in nearby Jefferson,
N.C., for a leisurely trip down the New.
